Combine a variety of techniques to create monotype prints in this fun, informative three-day workshop. Make your own stencils, printing blocks and relief plates with the natural surroundings as inspiration. Learn to use these materials to create hand-printed collage papers. Next, develop a monotype series using your handmade printing tools, a ghost print technique, vibrant layers of oil-based inks, mark-making with water soluble crayons, and the chine collé method of collage.
Oil-based printing inks are provided for this workshop. Vegetable oil is provided for clean-up. No solvents are used.

Photos are from my recent three day workshop at Sitka Center on the Oregon Coast. The weather was glorious and the time flew by – such a delightful group.
Oil-based inks were layered on plexiglas plates using stencils, printing blocks and relief plates made during the workshop. Chine collé elements were adhered during transfer to paper with the Ray Trayle etching press. Beautiful hand-printed papers for collage were created using the leftover inks.

Having great fun in the studio this winter; working on collages for a show at Luke’s Frame Shop in May.
First I created a collection of hand-printed papers using stencils, relief plates, oil based inks and acrylic glazes. I am now layering the patterned papers with monotypes, etchings, and bits of old maps and sheet music. These new works explore playful juxtaposition of pattern, line and color.
Look for show details this early spring.
